Pattypan squash soup

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Dinner
-Pattypan squash soup with fried seitan balls
-Onion flavoured bread

Hi! It has been a while! I’m really sorry about it, I’ve been working so hard lately: at work at 7h30 and Bear tries to make me stop before 23! Well, this week-end I had a little time to treat Bear and thank him for the last few weeks, when he did all the cooking. So I think that a little soup with some fried seitan balls, and homemade onion flavoured bread slices would do the trick. Oh, and I do have to thank Kahte from the Vegeweb forum for the idea of fried seitan. It was really great. It’s nice to get near some pans and have a little time for cooking.

Red rice and terrific meat alike balls

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Bento content
-3 meat alike balls
-1/2 tomato
-1/4 aubergine sliced cooked with a spray of oil, chilli pepper, salt and pepper
-1/4 orange pepper bell
-1 little maize
-1/8 cucumber
-Red rice
-Homemade furitake

One more little idea to colour naturally rice: tomato sauce! It’s amazing it didn’t appear on the blog before because it’s one item which comes often on our table! Mum usually does it with green olives which gives a nice little taste. Though I usually eat it hot, it’s nice cool too. And it was really delicious with some little vegetables cooked and fresh. And today, I didn’t forget the pulse to have a well-balanced vegetarian bento. I did some really great “meat” balls with smoked tofu and gluten. The taste is really incredible and Bear was totally seduced by it. And now I can redo my favourite easy and express pasta recipe: “meat balls” with tomato sauce.
Happy!

Going to Luxembourg

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Bento
-Apple quarter
-Mini tomatoes
-Maize (pickle)
-Raw cauliflower
-Chive
-Carrot sticks
-Ratatouille (soya pellet, carrot, aubergine, maize)
-Homemade furitake
-Rice

I’m still moving a lot (as usual would one say). I’ve prepared this little bento to eat on the plane while going to Luxembourg.
And guess what? I had to open my box to show that it was only food at the custom! Why is it that I cannot go through customs whithout having to open everything, and explain where why and for how long I going there…

Mushroom polish soup

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Dinner
-Polish mushroom soup
-Lettuce
-Sauerkraut
-Home-made pickles
-Hot dog with soya sausage

This night, we are, as usual, really in a hurry. I didn’t have much time and so we did a really quick meal. I prepared some mushroom soup (following Agda’s instructions) with their self grown oyster mushrooms. We added some salads and a little vegetarian hot dogs (with mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise) to mimic polish habits when on the road. We have such fun lately!

Parmentier: better texture, better taste!

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Dinner
-Hachis parmentier
-Lettuce

Yesterday, I was putting forward this new meat substitute I baked. Bear found the real meal where this minced seitan would reveal all it’s power: hachis parmentier. What changed from the last recipe? Natural seitan minced is chewy like if you had some pieces of chicken in whereas this solution is more minced meat alike. Moreover the spices are nearer to what we were expecting. So, the result: incredible and so “lecker”! Yes, I’m watching too much German cooking programs on TV.
