Cod-fish cream pie for the first of May

Bento content:
Cod-fish cream and potato pie
Corn salad, grated carrots
-Little strawberry full of vinegar and soy sauce.

The recipe of this pie is quite easy. This time I cheated and bought the cod-fish cream as we can find some here in the south of France, but you can find a recipe at supertoinette (it’s in French) or here for an english version but without photos.
Today as it was the first of May, I went to eat my bento outdoors and read under the shadow of a tree in an enormous park. It’s at an hour of walk from my place. And though it is still in town you really feel like you are in the forest far from the stress of the town. I was so happy to be there in the sun surrounded by flowers and birds, eating my bento. The only little annoyance was that my bottle of water leaked a bit. So do not buy these little bottles that fits into the cool bags you get when buying your bento boxes. They leak a bit too quickly. I had this one for less than a month!

The first of May is a special day in France: it’s working day. So, it’s clear that it’s a bank holiday! This day is taken quite seriously : no shops are opened, no public transport, …the only thing you can buy are lilies of the valley. It’s the symbol of this special day. Normally you are meant to go and pick some. But being in town with no public transport doesn’t ease the picking of the lilies! Nevermind! I was under the sun today so I think I got the idea of the day.
