Bear’s lunch
-Sandwich made of Brie, dried tomatoes, lettuce, broccoli spread
Vegan milk bread
-2 traditional shortbread biscuits imprinted with love message (I’m terrible, I love to embarrass Bear)
-A little box of carrot stick with mayonnaise dip

Bear is moving a lot and quite often lunchboxes are not the most practical for him. So he prefers to go for sandwiches. This time I did a broccoli and cheese spread with yesterday leftovers to be sure he’ll have some veggies. Though I know it’s unpratical I still smuggled a little box of raw carrot sticks with some mayonnaise, if in any case he had the opportunity to eat it…I’m terrible but I can’t help it. Add the biscuits where I printed love message such as “I love you”, and just try to feature him offering one to his colleagues…he didn’t know! Can you guess his new nickname?

The sun is out with all the heat that comes with it, so we like to eat under the shade of a tree. And what could be better than to endear ourselves with a freshly prepared smoothie and some shortbread? And smoothie is a good trick to make Bear eat some fruits!

It’s all sunny these days and it makes me feel so happy. So why not add the pleasure of a nice breakfast? I did Bear’s favourite chocolate creams, with some vegan American style cookies. The chocolate creams are really easy to make and can be stored one week in the fridge, and Bear is so found of them! The vegan cookies are soft ones like those I tasted in Boston. And instead of the traditional glass of milk I preferred almond milk which is easier to make than soya milk, tastier (in my opinion) but a little more expensive.

Oh! And I did a I’m-on-diet-girly version of the chocolate cream pots with low-fat chocolate powder rather than chocolate.

It has been a while since I last posted. Sorry about that but I’m quite busy lately and it seems it’s not going to change much. A friend of us popped in for dinner a few days ago and brought me some of these traditional Alsatian biscuits, and as we didn’t eat the full box on that evening I still had a few to squeeze in my lunch box. The vegetables are mum’s home-grown one’s, I find them so tiny and so cute, and if you had the chance to taste them you’d find them incredibly tasty and flavoured. It just wonderfully matched with my mushroom rice sandwiches. And just a little tip to enhance your rice sandwiches : use glutinous rice!

Biscuit box:
Box full of vegan little biscuits glazed with lemony sugar

Many make such a fuss about Valentine’s day. Here we don’t do much, especially when we are both ill and doing our best to hold on. (And maybe also because we think that we should be sweet and respectful one to each other on a everyday basis, not once a year). But I thought that a box full of vegan hearts biscuits would mark the day.

Sesame shortbread biscuit with redcurrant jelly

This is an old photo from late august in Warsaw. It was one of these sunny Polish days when I had time to do pies and when I had some left-overs of crust-pastry. What can one do with it? I usually just roll it down and do some little squares, on which I sprinkle with sesame seeds, or nuts. There are really great with a little bit of jam and a Greek cafe frappe. I do long to have time again to bake and day dream.

So happy, I’m back cooking again on a daily basis. Bear is too! This bento is full of little things I missed these last days: homemade cookies, jelly, houmous, rice and raw vegetables and fruits.
It’s stupid but humus isn’t something common in France. I mean you cannot go in any shop and find can of houmous. Unfortunatly. And jelly is just unavailable and I tend to avoid mousses because of gelatine.
So back at home, with very little time and just blended a banana and add coco flakes a little lemon to prevent the banana to turn brown and agar-agar. And here you are!
As I told you yesterday, I wanted a to add a little more flavour to my ham. How? Well, I played with the breading. As usual I headed towards my okara box better than bread crumbs and looked for miso and spices! The result was really great!
And today’s treat were these little cookies mostly made out of sesame and maple syrup.
