Famous Pauline’s cake and simple alphabet tomato soup

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Dinner
Alphabet tomato soup
Pauline’s cake

It has been a tradition that each time uncle Frank and auntie Pauline came to visit us, one of auntie Pauline’s delicious fruit cake would pop out of their suitcase. This tradition has been continued by my mummy as each time I come back from my parents she’ll hide one Pauline’s cake in my bag to cheer me up. It is quite well-known among my closest friends, and I don’t have enough fingers to count how many of you sneak by for dinner to have a slice when you know I’m coming back. You greedy ones!

But before dessert we went for a simple tomato soup with alphabet pasta. The alphabet pasta is a treat we offered ourselves. Just try to picture us in the shop checking through the plastic bag that we had all the letters while waiting at the checkers. The other customers did give us strange looks! Haha!

This post is dedicated to uncle Frank and auntie Pauline, I thank them for keeping in touch and visiting us each year. And add a special thank to mum who made these muffin size Pauline’s cake for me.

Breakfast when Bear is far away working: fruit salad and granola

I’m craving for summer and its wonderful fruits. So I’ll go back in time and share with you a meal and some memories.

Breakfast
Fruity salad (watermelon, melon, apple, pear, tomato, carrot, mirabelle) with orange sweet sauce
Homemade granola

Bear is away working. My little eyes are puffy and tired as I’m not really disciplined in going early to bed when he’s away. I therefore needed a little cheering up breakfast full of vitamins. A little fruity salad topped with homemade granola with a orange caramel sauce.
A real treat!

Traditional shortbread and a smoothie

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Tea treat
Purple smoothie
Traditional shortbread

The sun is out with all the heat that comes with it, so we like to eat under the shade of a tree. And what could be better than to endear ourselves with a freshly prepared smoothie and some shortbread? And smoothie is a good trick to make Bear eat some fruits!

Back from the market: apple chestnut bread

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Snack
Apple and chestnut bread with cheese spread
-Spring sprouts
-Fresh veggies: raw cauliflower, raw carrots, apples
-A glass of lemonade

We like to wander in the market on Saturday mornings under the pale sun of spring. Usually when we come back home with our bags full, we like to take a moment to sit and enjoy to eat some fresh vegetables with fresh homemade bread. For a change I went for a chestnut and apple flavoured bread.

Sealed sandwiches

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Bento content
-Sealed sandwich with aubergine caviar, sprouts
Red fruits jelly
-Lamb’s lettuce
Steamed rice onigri stuffed with sprouts and spread cream
Polish sweet red cabbage salad

My friend StL did all the travel to our place to say hello. And she even came with a present : a sandwich sealer. So I think the least I could do to thank her was to publish Bear’s bento. Thank you so much! For those of you who don’t have it one solution can be to use the flat part of the blade of knife to seal it.
