Chile, a kitchen and a summer lunch

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Lunch

-Little summer salad (pealed tomato, cucumber and lemon)
-Melon (half)
Tomato, courgette, olive and tofu pie.

Chile, end of the stay, a little flat shared with a friend. An oven, some great flour (I’d love to bring back tones of this flour). An evening baking where we ended as wet phantoms as one started to throw a pinch of flour to the other, then the other grabbed the near by glass half full of water…a great baking night.
The pie leftovers were completed for lunch with a little cucumber tomato salad and a melon. What more can you ask for?
Maybe that Bear could share these moments with me…

Pea and mint purée in Duchesse

I really don’t have much time, it’s too bad. I will need to reorganise things so that I have a little more time for anything else which isn’t work. Well, here is a leftover bento with not much new in it. Except maybe that it is the first that I show this bento. I’m not really fond of it, to say true, it leeks, it’s not even airtight and I don’t really manage to play much with it. It looked pretty on the net, and once more I listened to the mermaids’ consumer song. I’m not really proud of myself.

Bento
-Mini tomatoes
-Cucumber
-Maize (pickle)
-Mushroom
-White and green beans
-Radishes
-Arugola
-Sandwiches made of onion flavoured bread with black tapenade and mushrooms

Yesterday, I forgot to give you the recipe of my onion flavoured bread. So, it’s a good thing that I show you such a simple bento. Nothing really fancy, just a few veggies, a little sandwich with homemade bread and tapenade. Just enough to make my day and make me forget that I’m totally owerwhelmed with my work!

Red rice and terrific meat alike balls

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Bento content
-3 meat alike balls
-1/2 tomato
-1/4 aubergine sliced cooked with a spray of oil, chilli pepper, salt and pepper
-1/4 orange pepper bell
-1 little maize
-1/8 cucumber
Red rice
Homemade furitake

One more little idea to colour naturally rice: tomato sauce! It’s amazing it didn’t appear on the blog before because it’s one item which comes often on our table! Mum usually does it with green olives which gives a nice little taste. Though I usually eat it hot, it’s nice cool too. And it was really delicious with some little vegetables cooked and fresh. And today, I didn’t forget the pulse to have a well-balanced vegetarian bento. I did some really great “meat” balls with smoked tofu and gluten. The taste is really incredible and Bear was totally seduced by it. And now I can redo my favourite easy and express pasta recipe: “meat balls” with tomato sauce.
Happy!

Wraps

As you all know, I’m completely fond of wraps! And I usually put really weird stuff in my wraps. This time we went for so tasty lentils balls, a soya bolognese tomato sauce, and kohlrabi roesti and fresh veggies.
But before starting the wraps feast we had some little tomato and feta Provençal tasty jelly. I love these evenings when we have so much of little bites of so many different things…Yummy.

At last some time together, three colour Duchesses with spicy lentil sesame balls with their creamy dip and salad

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Dinner
Pea and mint purée in Duchesse
Carrot purée in Duchesse
Potato purée in Duchesse
Coral lentils spicy balls
-Cucumber slices
-Spinach leaves
Creamy dip

As I told you, Bear is working a lot and so do I. I fill the lonely evenings with more work, or surfing on your blogs. But tonight it’s different. Bear sent me a text message that he would be able to join me for dinner. So, I put a bottle of our hometown wine to cool and started messing my kitchen. And this is our meal: three colour Duchesses with spicy lentil sesame balls with their creamy dip and salad.
The result was colourful, the taste amazing and Bear’s smile unforgettable. I believe that love and food have a strong link…;)

My new bento box

-Rice (risotto)
-Cucumber slices and mushroom slices
-Quail egg
-Dried fruit, pecan nut
Vegan chocolate muffin
-Half a kiwi
-Quarter of apple

The bento pictured is my new bento box from Bento&Co. I rarely advertise for anything, but I believe that Thomas deserved it. You might know through forums or through comments that I was looking for a metal bento box which would be air and liquid tight. I had no opprtunities to find any which could be purchased in Europe and especially Poland. Then, I contacted Thomas and chatted a little. This is how I had the opportunity to purchase the exact bento box I wanted. This is the first meal I had in this bento.
The bento is in stainless steel, so you should avoid any acid food as lemon or vinegar if you want to keep it shinny. Why metal? Come on, it doesn’t go in a microwave. Yes, but, it does go on a a cooker which is what I have access to at my office. So, now I can eat hot meals. It’s just too bad that it’s summer already and that I prefer salad and fresh bentos…Well, don’t complain! It’ll be a real joy in winter (hopping that I do have access to a heater in my next job…)
