Chile, a kitchen and a summer lunch

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Lunch

-Little summer salad (pealed tomato, cucumber and lemon)
-Melon (half)
Tomato, courgette, olive and tofu pie.

Chile, end of the stay, a little flat shared with a friend. An oven, some great flour (I’d love to bring back tones of this flour). An evening baking where we ended as wet phantoms as one started to throw a pinch of flour to the other, then the other grabbed the near by glass half full of water…a great baking night.
The pie leftovers were completed for lunch with a little cucumber tomato salad and a melon. What more can you ask for?
Maybe that Bear could share these moments with me…

I miss you, end of summer bowl in Chile

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Dinner
-Lettuce with parsley
-Sesame seeds
-Radishes
-Pickles
-Tomato with chive
-Toasted cereal bread with a spread of chunky peanut butter and mustard sprouts

Burning my lips with Mary’s herbal tea in the far end of Chile. Loneliness and sunshine rays through my curtains. A lot of work to do and some tiredness. A little cardigan to go out in the sun and brave the brisk wind to get to a pastry shop. Licking my finger with sugar crumbs to avoid staining my book.
A little salad for dinner prepared in a hotel room.
Bear I miss you.

Polish soup : Parówkowy gulasz w jarzynami

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Dinner
Polish soup (tomato soup with peas and vegan sausage),
-Toasted bread,
Tofu balls,
Sauerkraut

Bear is away all week. I’m lying on my favourite fluffy carpet, hanging on the phone with my sister while waiting that my soup cools down. It’s a simple meal that I would qualify of comfort food as it brings back a lot of memories from our Polish stay. A meal that Bear often asks for : quick simple and really yummy. A good way to fight winter.

By the way, has anyone a good recipe for vegan sausages? I’d love to be able to replicate the I-bought-them-myself ones.

P.S.: Eve, the homemade tomato sauce and the peas come from my freezer.

Breakfast when Bear is far away working: fruit salad and granola

I’m craving for summer and its wonderful fruits. So I’ll go back in time and share with you a meal and some memories.

Breakfast
Fruity salad (watermelon, melon, apple, pear, tomato, carrot, mirabelle) with orange sweet sauce
Homemade granola

Bear is away working. My little eyes are puffy and tired as I’m not really disciplined in going early to bed when he’s away. I therefore needed a little cheering up breakfast full of vitamins. A little fruity salad topped with homemade granola with a orange caramel sauce.
A real treat!

Sunday for two: Tempura

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Sunday lunch
Falafel
Tempura (aubergine, carrot, onion)
-Soba with miso
Sweet and sour tomato sauce

Did you ever tasted tempura? Such lightly breaded fried vegetables. I added some sweet and sour sauce with a little soba and miso soup to complete the meal. And though, it’s not Japanese, I added some falafel for the pulse, but it was a little too much fried item for the same meal. Next time, we’ll go for some steamed pulse burgers!

Donburi

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Lunch bowl
Poached egg
Caramelised aubergine
-Rice
Sweet tomato chilli beans (exchange the hot chili pepper paste with 1 tsp of sugar or agave sirop)

Sometimes I like to wander on the web. And here’s what I found on Shoko’s amazing blog: Donburi. So when I managed to found aubergine at my local store, I went for it! And to say true it became a popular meal at our place! You should definitively give it a try!

English breakfast

Vegetarian, Bento, Cuisine, Recipes, Zoé

Breakfast
Poached egg
Beans in sweet homemade tomato sauce
Homemade bread

Lille, cold freezing mornings though the sun is out. A scarf, gloves and hat are more than necessary. A little flat, tiny kitchen. Big enough for a proper English breakfast to give me the strength to fight the icy wind.
